In 1984, Marjorie Burchett opened a small balloon shop in Louisville, Kentucky. Her balloons only floated for a few hours, and she had to inflate them right before every delivery. She asked her husband, a chemical engineer, if he could make balloons float longer. After a few months of experiments, Don came up with the original formula for HI-FLOAT. Word got out about a small balloon shop with magical balloons, and distributors called, asking to sell her product. She established the HI-FLOAT Company, and the rest is history! Today, over 40 years later, we remain a family-owned business led by Marjorie and Don’s children and grandchildren. All HI-FLOAT branded products are still made in Louisville, Kentucky.
